At least 40 travel and tourism players from the country led by East African Affairs, Commerce and Tourism secretary Phyllis Kandie are participating in the Internationale Tourismus Borse (ITB) Berlin.

ITB Berlin, which is the largest global tourism fair, opened its doors Thursday and runs until March 9, with 10,147 exhibitors from 189 countries.

In a statement, Kenya Tourism Board managing director Muriithi Ndegwa said the delegation would leverage on Ms Nyong’os Oscar triumph to attract more international holidaymakers.

The KTB boss said Lupita’s film success as Best Supporting Actress had put Kenya on the world map giving the country’s destination an edge against its African competitors.

Germany is Kenya’s fourth tourist source market after the UK, the US and Italy.
