Counties will join Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) in marketing their governments abroad, in a move aimed at promoting the diverse attractions outside beach and game.

KTB managing director Muriithi Ndegwa said county tourism officials are keen to participate in marketing efforts, starting with the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) fair to be held in Germany in March. ITB is one of the largest tourism exhibitions in the world.

“We are pleased with the interest showed by county governments in joining the travel trade for international tourism exhibitions such as ITB. We urge them to come on board as soon as possible before the registration deadline at the end of this month,” Mr Ndegwa said. He was speaking after a meeting with industry players who will participate in this year’s ITB.

KTB has altered its exhibition design to accommodate country governments and private sector investors. ITB is one of the main trade events Kenya participates in to showcase its tourist attractions.

Kenya is working to reassure key markets of safety, following the terrorist attacks last year.
